Lindsay Liddell: Head of Learning and Development - The Starbucks Coffee Company
Lindsay grew up in Dorset and alongside the normal schooling process soon developed a passion for dance. After trial and error with an office based environment, she returned to her passion and set up her own local dance school. Over time, she branched out to provide what was then known as ‘keep fit’ and became a qualified fitness instructor. Three years later, Lindsay sold her small business and moved full time into the health and fitness arena. She joined Fitness First just prior to opening their second club.
One year in, Lindsay opened the 7th club in the Fitness First chain as General Manager and progressed quickly to Cluster Manager. As Fitness First was rapidly expanding, she moved out of operations to recruit employees for every new club. This soon evolved to developing and delivering training for employees at every level of a club operation. Quickly appointed to L&D Manager, Lindsay spent the last four years building a formal training framework and designing development to compliment it.
Ten years later and 150 clubs on, Lindsay was offered the role of Management Development Manager at Starbucks Coffee Company. In this role, Lindsay was responsible for behavioural development across an estate of stores in excess of 600, including the support centre up to and including Board level. Lindsay was promoted to Head of Learning & Development in June 08 and continues to drive her passion through a highly talented team of partners.
